August Koch Military person

August "Aute" Koch (14 May 1914 – 6 January 2003) was a highly decorated Hauptmann in the Wehrmacht during World War II. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. August Koch was captured by Soviet troops in 1945 after the Battle of Poznań. He was released in 1946.
