Abe Mickal American football player

Abe "Miracle" Mickal (July 9, 1912 - September 20, 2001) was an American football player. He was named to the College Football Hall of Fame for his career as a halfback at LSU. Although selected in the 1936 NFL Draft, Mickal did not play professionally.After his sterling college football career, Abe Mickal became a physician and ultimately become a long-term chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Louisiana State University Medical Center in New Orleans, next to and associated with the famous Charity Hospital of New Orleans. Dr. Mickal was instrumental in educating many Louisiana medical students and obstetricians over several decades at LSU. He retired to become Medical Education director at the Kenner Regional Medical Center (formerly St. Jude Hospital) in Kenner, Louisiana. He was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity and is survived by his wife Lois and several children and grandchildren.
