Gottlieb Renz Military person

Gottlieb Renz (12 September 1911 — 3 January 1945) was a Sturmbannführer (Major) in the Waffen-SS during World War II. He was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross, which was awarded to recognize extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership by Nazi Germany during World War II.Gottlieb Renz was the commander of the 6th SS Schützen Battalion (Panzer Grenadier), 6th SS Gebirgs Division Nord when he was awarded the Knight's Cross on the 12 August 1944, serving in the Northern Front in Finland.Renz did not survive the war but was killed in action in the Battle of France on the 3 January 1945.
