Werner Rode Military person

Werner Rode (6 November 1912 – 2 November 2002) was a highly decorated Oberstleutnant in the Wehrmacht during World War II. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Werner Rode joined the Bundeswehr in 1960 and retired in 1970.
