Mike Pruitt American football player

Michael Pruitt (born April 3, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois) is a former American football running back who played eleven seasons from 1976 to 1986 with the Cleveland Browns, Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs in the National Football League. He played college football at Purdue University.At Purdue he ran for 613 yards with 3 TD in 1974 and 899 yards with 3 TD in 1975.Pruitt was a two-time All-Pro in 1979 and 1980; he was also a two-time Pro Bowler in 1979 and 1980. He ran for over 1,000 yds four times in his career (1979-1981, 1983).Pruitt played in 152 games during his career, rushing for 1,844 carries for 7,378 yards and 56 combined touchdowns and is currently 43rd all time in rushing yards. He accounted for 9,238 of All-Purpose yards and ranks 3rd on the Cleveland Browns career rushing list.He owned a Ford dealership in Lima, Ohio and owned a Honda dealership in Akron, Ohio.He was inducted into the Greater Cleveland Sports Hall of Fame in 2003.Since 1988 he has dedicate much of his free time in the volunteer ministry work as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. He and his wife, Denise, are active in this work and can be found knocking on doors in Strongsville, Ohio, where he lives.Mike does not have much involvement these days in the Football arena but will still make requested appearances by different organizations that ask him to call back on his bygone days with the Browns.
